On first listen, Geisha Facade’s latest record, You Went To Space, Good Bye Dear, will make you feel like you’re stuck in a lucid dream, floating in outer space with Radiohead performing to one of your ears, and the Jesus and Mary Chain performing to the other. This Philadelphia-based duo consisting of Zoe and Jordan Dupree makes a lot of noise with their cosmic, melancholy-filled shoegaze.
But what we love most about them? Their total DIY work ethic. All of their recordings are done from the depths of their one-bedroom Philly apartment. All of their tours and promotions are self-funded. And next week, they’ll be taking their show on the road for a few dates around the northeast: Wednesday 6/21 has them performing at O’Brien’s Pub in Allston, Mass., Thursday 6/22 at Bushwick Public House in Brooklyn, and Friday 6/23 back home in Philly at The Barbary.
Catch them live at the shows above if you’re in the area, and if you’re not, be sure to give You Went To Space, Good Bye Dear a listen over on their Bandcamp page.
